Now is the time to begin planning on a summer reading program for your children. It is so important that students read daily over the summer so they do not lose ground in their reading level. Students can lose as much as an entire grade level in their reading ability if they do not read on a regular basis. 20 minutes daily is the recommended reading time for your child. The local libraries are a great place to get books for your kids, and they usually have a Summer Reading program with incentives to encourage your child to read. Set a good example for your children: take time out of your day and read! Read to your children to encourage comprehension and increased vocabulary. Make reading a priority, and remember to make it fun!
