West
has been recognized as an Illinois Spotlight School for a third year in
a row. A great accomplishment for sure. Let's go for 4! We missed
receiving an Excellence Award as well by 2% points in Reading. If we
score @ 90% in Math and Reading this year we will earn it. Every
classroom teacher will have a stake in the scores this year.
Selection Criteria for
2012 AwardsThe criteria for selecting Spotlight Schools are as follows:
* At least half the students enrolled are classified as low-income
students in 2012.
* Schools must have made Adequate Yearly Progress for the last two years, 2010 and 2011, as required by No Child Left Behind. In 2010, at least 77.5% of students met or exceeded standards. In 2011 and 2012, at least 85% of students met or exceeded standards.
* At least 50 percent of students met or exceeded those same standards in the two preceding years, 2010 and 2011.
